The Nebraska Federation of Business and Professional Women seeks to unite all women in achieving economic, social and political equality. Preamble The Alice Equal Rights Amendment shall stand first, foremost and above all other items which may appear on the state platform of this Federation until equal, legal rights for women and men become guaranteed by the State of Nebraska, because all statutory law derives therefrom. The Alice Paul Equal Rights Amendment: Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridges by the United States or by any state on account of sex. Action Items: The Nebraska Federation supports Legislation, Education, and Funding for: Item One Equal treatment of women in all areas of employment including hiring and promotion, pay equity implementation, and elimination of sexual harassment. Item Two Reproductive freedom and access to family planning services for all women. Item Three Programs adressing family issues and providing services and legal aid to victims of domestic violence, rape and child abuse. Item Four Research and solutions to women's health issues and to ensure the availability of affordable, quality health care and dependent care. Item Five The Nebraska Commission on Status of Women and agencies, which provide assistance to women. Item Six The support of women candidates to obtain elective and appointed governmental positions. Item Seven Equal opportunity in education and work force training and retraining including access, financial aid, and support services. Item Eight Equity in Social Security and retirement benefits, and insurance and pension reform. The Nebraska Federation will support other issues of importance, which promote the goals, objectives and mission statement of the Nebraska Federation and BPW/USA. |
